Process

Air purifier service visit, step by step

Every job starts with a conversation and a look at the equipment. You see the options in plain language before anything is booked.

Book an air purifier service visit

  1. 1

    Ask what changed

When did the noise start, or the tripping, or the loss of airflow? Have you changed the filter lately? What you have noticed helps us look in the right place.

  2. 2

    Check airflow and pressure

We measure pressure across the filter or cabinet and compare it with normal operation for your system. A clogged filter, a loose door and a blower problem each show up differently.

  3. 3

    Replace and clean

We replace media, UV lamps or humidifier pads that are due, clean washable parts and check seals. We follow the manufacturer intervals and tell you if your conditions suggest shorter ones.

  4. 4

    Retest and record

We retest operation, record dates for the next replacement and leave notes. If a part is not worth repairing, we will say so.

Good to know

How often parts need attention

Filters and media

Intervals depend on the product, the home and the season. A deep media filter in a dusty house with pets may need changing sooner than the label maximum. We set a starting interval and adjust after the first change.

UV lamps

Output declines with hours of use, even when the lamp still lights. Replace on the manufacturer stated schedule. See the UV air purifier page for how lamps work.

Humidifier pads

Replace before the heating season, and more often with hard water. Check the drain at the same time. See humidifier installation.

Pressure and noise

A rising pressure drop, whistling, rattling or a unit that trips a breaker needs a check. Leaving it can strain the blower and shorten the life of the equipment.

Check the part before you buy it

Replacement media and lamps are specific to the model, and wrong sizes let air leak around the filter. Send us the model number or a photo of the label and we will confirm the right part. For the original system, see whole-home air purification.

Questions about Air Purifier Service

How often should I change my whole-home air filter?

It depends on the filter type, system run time and your home. Check the manufacturer interval, then adjust by looking at the filter. We can set a schedule after the first visit.

My purifier is noisy. What could it be?

Possible causes include a loose mounting, a failing fan, an obstructed intake or a clogged filter. We check each, along with airflow and pressure.

Why does my air purifier keep tripping the breaker?

It could be a wiring, fan or control fault, or a problem with a shared circuit. Switch off the unit and call us. Electrical work is done by licensed electrical professionals or trade partners, with permits and ESA notification where required.

Do you service units you did not install?

In many cases yes, depending on the make, model and parts availability. We start with a diagnosis. A diagnostic fee may apply; confirmed at booking.

Can you replace UV lamps and humidifier pads on the same visit?

Yes, they are often done together with the filter change, which saves a visit. Book with the model details if you can, so parts are ready.

How do I know if my whole-home filter is clogged?

Look at the filter. If it is grey and matted, it needs changing. Other signs are weak airflow at vents, a furnace that shuts off on a limit and a noisier blower. A pressure reading across the cabinet is the most reliable check, and we take one during service.

Can I wash a HEPA or MERV filter?

Not unless the manufacturer says it is washable. Disposable pleated media is replaced, not washed, and washing can damage it. Electrostatic filters are designed to be washed. Check your label, or send us the model number and we will confirm.

What happens if I skip filter changes?

Airflow falls, the blower works harder, comfort suffers and dust gets past the media. In summer, low airflow can cause ice to form on the cooling coil. Skipped changes can shorten the life of the equipment. We set a schedule you can keep. See furnace maintenance.

Where do I find the model number of my air purifier?

It is usually on a label on the cabinet door or side, or inside the access panel. A photo of the label lets us order the right media, lamp or pad. Wrong sizes let air leak around the filter, so the exact model matters.

My UV lamp is glowing. Does that mean it still works?

Not necessarily. A UV lamp loses output over time even while it still lights. Replacement is based on the manufacturer's stated lamp life and hours of use. We record the install date and mark when the next one is due. See UV air purifier.

Can you clean an electrostatic air cleaner?

Yes. Washable cells are cleaned and dried fully before reinstalling, and we check the collector plates, wires and power supply. Follow the manufacturer's cleaning interval, as dirty cells lose effectiveness. If a cell is damaged, we explain the replacement option.

Why does my humidifier smell musty?

Usually because the pad is old, the drain is slow or water is sitting in the unit. Replace the pad, check the drain and water line and clean the cabinet as the manual describes. If the smell continues, book a visit so we can look at the whole system.
