The scientist behind the name
William Thomson, later known as Lord Kelvin (1824-1907), was a British physicist and engineer. In 1848 he proposed an absolute temperature scale, one that starts from the lowest possible temperature and not from the freezing point of water.
That starting point is absolute zero, which is -273.15 °C. Temperature on the Kelvin scale is measured in kelvins (K), and 0 K is absolute zero. The Kelvin scale is still the scientific standard for thermodynamic temperature.
It matters in our trade. Air conditioners and heat pumps move heat with a refrigeration cycle, and the physics behind that cycle is built on absolute temperature. We took the name as a reminder to start from real measurements and not from guesses.
Founded in 2019
Kelvin Mechanical was founded in 2019 as an Ontario home comfort and mechanical service company. The focus is honest advice, clean workmanship, after-sales support and long-term customer care.
Today the work covers homes, landlords and property managers, and light commercial clients across the GTA and nearby Ontario. Our message is short: better comfort, better value, flexible solutions and professional care.
What we cover, and where to find it
A mechanical company can mean many things, so here is a plain map of the work.
Heating and cooling
Furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless systems, boilers and thermostats. Start at heating and cooling.
Water heating
Tank, tankless and electric or heat pump water heaters, with limited plumbing support tied to the water heater. See water heating.
Air and water quality
Whole-home air purification, UV, humidifiers, water softeners and reverse osmosis systems. See air and water quality.
Electrical and energy
EV chargers, panel upgrades, circuits for new equipment, lighting, switches and outlets, and solar. Permits and ESA notification where required. See electrical and energy.
Commercial
Rooftop and packaged units, make-up air, restaurant and kitchen ventilation support, and property management HVAC. See commercial mechanical.
How the work is done
Every project starts with a conversation, and most start with a site review. From there the process is simple.
Listen and look
We ask what is wrong or what you want to change, then review the home or building. For heating and cooling, sizing starts with a proper load calculation, not a rule of thumb.
Explain the options
You get the choices in plain language, including the trade-offs between repair and replacement. A quote follows the site review.
Do the work to a standard
Installation follows the manufacturer's instructions and the codes that apply. Permits and inspections are handled where required.
Check and explain
We test the system, clean up, and walk you through what was done, how to operate it and what maintenance it needs.
Stay in touch
After the job, you can reach us with questions about the work or the equipment. Warranty paperwork and registration are explained, not left to chance.
Kelvin Mechanical works with licensed and qualified professionals and trade partners, depending on the project scope.
Workmanship standards
- Equipment is sized from a load calculation, not from square footage alone.
- Installations follow manufacturer instructions, venting and clearance requirements, and applicable codes.
- Permits and ESA notification are handled where required for electrical work.
- Floors, furniture and work areas are protected, and the area is cleaned up when the job is done.
- Systems are commissioned and tested before we leave, and the results are explained to you.
- What was done, and what we recommend next, is described in plain language.
Support after the job is done
A system is only as good as the support behind it. After installation or repair, you can contact us about the work, the equipment or its warranty. Service and maintenance visits keep the equipment running as intended. Warranty coverage depends on the manufacturer, registration and the labour warranty package selected, which we explain on the financing and warranties page.
Straight answers when the choice is not obvious
Sometimes a repair makes sense. Sometimes replacement does. We would rather explain the difference than push the largest or newest option. Pricing varies with equipment, venting, ductwork, installation complexity and warranty options, and a quote follows a site review.
If the work is outside what we do, we say so. Our plumbing support, for example, is limited to water heaters and related connections, and we do not take on drains, sewers or bathrooms.
Ontario conditions, Ontario homes
Ontario means cold winters, humid summers and a mix of building stock that ranges from older houses to new townhomes, condos and plazas. Equipment that works well here has to cope with high heating loads, summer humidity and, in some areas, hard water.
We work with Ontario homeowners, landlords, property managers and light commercial clients. See the areas we serve across the GTA and nearby Ontario, including Hamilton, the Niagara region, London and Peterborough.
What customers can expect
- A clear explanation before any work begins
- A quote after a site review, with the scope written down
- A diagnostic fee may apply, and it is confirmed at booking
- Emergency service, subject to availability
- Offers, rebates, financing and warranties explained as separate things
- Respect for your home, your schedule and your questions
- Contact after the job if something is not right
The values behind the work
Better comfort
A system should keep every room comfortable, quietly and reliably, not just run.
Better value
Value means the right equipment, installed properly, with honest costs and no padding.
Flexible solutions
Homes and buildings differ. We look at repair, replacement, rental and payment options as separate choices.
Professional care
Clear communication, tidy work and follow-through, from the first call to the last visit.
